Investigation on Minute Holes of Woven Fabrics for Wide-Band Micro-Perforated Sound Absorbers

Woven fabric perforation is helpful to be adopted meet the microstructure requirement of a micro-perforated panel (MPP) absorber. Unlike conventional MPP, woven micro-perforations are formed by yarn in x (weft) and y (warp)-directions. Hence, minute holes MPP with diameter 0.1–0.3 mm or high ratio expected easily fabricated, while such specification difficult realize on solid surface, as found some studies. The study presented here focuses use absorbers fabrics discusses hole properties their associated absorption characteristics. Theoretical results Maa’s model also used validate resulting characteristics from experimental investigations. It that around 0.10–0.20 have been successfully fabricated controlling weft density. capable producing half-absorption bandwidth up 5000 Hz (>3 octaves), peak coefficient can more than 0.8. In addition, varying order 10−2 change behavior for both bandwidth. Such confirmed comparing theoretical model. This indicates still applicable predicting developed based material.
